The scammer claimed he needed the money for an operation he couldn’t afford due to his recent divorce from Angelina Jolie.

The ‘fake Brad Pitt’ has struck again, and this time the victim was Anne, a 53-year-old French woman, who claimed they had been in a relationship for a year and a half. This time, the “fake Brad Pitt” asked Anne for €83,000, claiming he needed to undergo kidney cancer surgery and could not access his bank accounts because of his recent and complicated divorce from Angelina Jolie.

They met in February 2023 and began chatting online. The woman, who was going through a difficult time with her husband, with whom she has a daughter, stated that she fell in love with her scammer. The fraudster sent her photos edited to look like the American actor and even sent a video created with artificial intelligence. The woman claims she didn’t realise she was being scammed. “He sent me photos, and when I searched online, I couldn’t find them. That’s why I told myself: ‘they’re photos he made just for me,’” she explained. A year and a half later, Anne realised that her scammer had deceived her when the romance between Brad Pitt and Inés de Ramón was made public.

Currently, the woman is suffering from severe depression and staying temporarily at a friend’s house after losing almost all of her wealth, including the €775,000 she received from her divorce. “I wonder why they chose me to hurt me this much. I’ve never harmed anyone in my life. These people deserve hell,” said the complainant.

The ‘fake Brad Pitt’ scams are not new, as the Civil Guard has been investigating this matter since a woman reported a €175,000 scam in August 2023. Shortly after, the police found a second victim in the province of Vizcaya, and in September, five people were arrested in connection with the operation named “Bralina.”
