Balenciaga Pays Tribute to Angelo Badalamenti with a Collaboration Fusing Fashion and Music, Honoring the Acclaimed Composer.

On February 20, 2024, Balenciaga launched a collaboration in honor of the esteemed American composer and arranger, Angelo Badalamenti, who passed away on December 11, 2022. Initiated in May 2020 in partnership with the Manhattan School of Music and his daughter, Danielle Badalamenti, this collaboration includes a curated playlist by Badalamenti, available at balenciaga.com/angelobadalamenti, and a line of merchandise inspired by his score “Torch Theme.” The campaign, photographed and filmed at the Manhattan School of Music, features students and relatives of Badalamenti wearing the designs, merging fashion, music, and tribute. The partnership with the Manhattan School of Music, led by Dr. Reiko Fueting, includes the creation of a master class where students will compose works inspired by the late composer’s style.

Badalamenti, known for his film scores and collaborations with pop artists, has a deeply rooted legacy at the Manhattan School of Music, where he earned his degrees in the 1950s. This tribute highlights his impact on music and cinema, while the school, founded in 1918, continues its legacy of excellence in music education.
