Alessandro Michele makes his debut at Valentino with a vibrant and theatrical haute couture collection, redefining the house’s legacy with his maximalist and eclectic signature.

Alessandro Michele, renowned for his transformative tenure at Gucci, has left an indelible mark with his haute couture debut for Valentino during Paris Haute Couture Week 2025. Presented at the historic Palais Brongniart, Michele described the experience as “this is like a Ferrari,” highlighting the power and precision that haute couture demands.

The collection fused historical references with theatrical elements, showcasing voluminous skirts inspired by the 18th century, ’70s-style ruffles, and whimsical details such as a harlequin-patterned gown. This maximalist and eclectic approach marked a departure from the minimalist romanticism of his predecessor, Pierpaolo Piccioli.

Michele also broke barriers by featuring models over the age of 50, emphasising the beauty that comes with time. His ability to intertwine historical influences with a contemporary narrative brought a fresh perspective to Valentino, honouring its legacy while revitalising it with his personal vision.

This debut not only reaffirms Michele’s reputation as a visionary who finds beauty in historical themes but also signals a new era for Valentino, where tradition and modernity coexist in perfect harmony.
