American Horror Story unveils its Season 13 trailer, with Jessica Lange, Sarah Paulson and Evan Peters returning as some of their most iconic characters.
American Horror Story is preparing for one of the most ambitious comebacks in its history. FX and Hulu have officially unveiled the trailer for Season 13 of the anthology created by Ryan Murphy, confirming the return of several stars who helped turn the production into one of television’s biggest horror phenomena.
The biggest surprise is the return of Jessica Lange, Sarah Paulson and Evan Peters, three names closely associated with the show’s universe since its earliest seasons. However, their involvement will go far beyond simply reprising one of their former characters.
The new season will directly explore the franchise’s past, allowing its stars to simultaneously portray several roles they have previously played. Jessica Lange will reprise four of her characters, while Evan Peters will take on five roles and Sarah Paulson will portray six. The concept will be pushed even further when some of these identities actually encounter different versions of themselves within the same scene.
The decision reinforces the interconnected nature that American Horror Story has gradually developed since its debut in 2011. Although each instalment was initially conceived as an independent story, over the years Ryan Murphy began establishing connections between characters, locations and events from different seasons.
The return of familiar faces does not end there. Angela Bassett will return as Marie Laveau, one of the most memorable characters from Coven, while Emma Roberts will reprise her role as Madison Montgomery. Jamie Brewer will also return as Adelaide Langdon, further strengthening the connections with previous chapters of the anthology.
At the same time, Season 13 will introduce several new faces. The cast welcomes Paul Anthony Kelly, filmmaker John Waters, Mean Girls actress Avantika Vandanapu, Joey Pollari and model Alex Consani, who will be entering Murphy’s distinctive horror universe for the first time.
Having won multiple Emmy Awards throughout its run, the series will continue to combine monsters, murder, supernatural elements and interconnected characters, although this time it appears ready to turn its own extensive history into one of its greatest attractions.
