Apple launches HomeView, a smart device featuring a Liquid Retina display, artificial intelligence, facial recognition and an upgraded Siri, arriving on 13 November.

Apple is once again investing in home technology with the launch of HomeView, a new smart display designed to become the central hub of the connected home. Powered by Apple Intelligence, the device combines personal assistant features, entertainment, video calls and smart home management, as the company looks to strengthen its position in the smart home market.

With a starting price of $299, HomeView offers an alternative for those looking to control multiple devices from one place without constantly relying on their smartphone. It is scheduled to arrive on 13 November 2026, although pre-orders are already open, according to the launch announcement.

Its design maintains the minimalist aesthetic for which the company is known. Crafted from aluminium, it features a 7-inch Liquid Retina display attached to a speaker base via a stainless steel hinge, allowing users to adjust the viewing angle.

The screen incorporates True Tone technology and adaptive brightness ranging from 500 to 0.3 nits. Its interface also changes automatically depending on the user’s distance, displaying at-a-glance information when viewed from afar and offering more detailed options as they approach.

At its heart is the A18 chip, responsible for powering the device’s intelligent features. One of its main innovations is facial recognition for up to six people, allowing each household member to personalise their Home Screen and securely access apps such as Messages, Calendar and Reminders.

The evolution of Siri with Apple Intelligence is another major highlight. The assistant offers more natural conversations and can interpret content displayed on screen, while Private Cloud Compute enhances privacy during certain operations.

On the multimedia front, HomeView features two full-range speakers, a woofer and passive radiators designed to deliver Spatial Audio. It also supports FaceTime with Center Stage, a feature that keeps users in frame during video calls.

Home security is another of its key selling points. The device allows users to view up to nine security camera feeds simultaneously and control Matter-compatible accessories. It also integrates with the new Apple Home Collection, developed in collaboration with LG Electronics and Schneider Electric.

Apple has also introduced a wall-mounted version, designed for those who prefer to integrate the device directly into their home décor.
