Barbara Palvin and Dylan Sprouse are officially parents. The couple announced the birth of their first daughter with a heartwarming family photo.
Barbara Palvin and Dylan Sprouse have just begun one of the most special chapters of their life together. The model and actor have announced that they are parents for the first time, four months after surprising fans by revealing the pregnancy during one of their most talked-about appearances at the Cannes Film Festival.
The news came alongside a photograph far removed from the glamorous red carpets the couple are accustomed to. In the image, Palvin and Sprouse are pictured at home with their baby, with all three wearing Los Angeles Dodgers shirts in front of the television during a baseball game, one of the couple’s shared passions.
The model also offered a playful clue about the date their daughter may have been born. “We took Labour Day literally this year,” she wrote, making a pun on Labour Day, as the word labour is also used to refer to childbirth. The US public holiday fell on 7 September this year, suggesting that their baby girl may have arrived on that date.
The pregnancy had become one of the most exciting moments for the couple since they decided to make the news public. It was in Cannes that Barbara Palvin first revealed her pregnancy, stepping out in a powder-blue gown featuring a square neckline and a long feather-trimmed skirt. Alongside Dylan Sprouse, she confirmed that the pair were preparing to expand their family.
Shortly afterwards, they shared one of the first images of their daughter: an ultrasound scan in which the baby appeared to be making the popular hand gesture associated with rock and roll. Her parents later recreated the same gesture in another photograph, showing the sense of humour with which they approached the pregnancy.
Another major revelation arrived in July. During a conversation on Wildmen, Palvin’s podcast with Brendan Columbus, the couple confirmed that they were expecting a baby girl. Sprouse made no attempt to hide his excitement about becoming a father to a daughter.
“We’re having a girl, which I’m really excited about,” said the actor, who became widely known at a young age through his work with Disney Channel. Sprouse even looked ahead to some of the moments he hoped to share with his daughter, revealing that he was particularly excited about future tea parties. “I love tea parties, unironically,” he explained.
Barbara, meanwhile, joked that having a daughter might help her husband relax, although she acknowledged that his existing worries would probably simply be replaced by those that come with fatherhood.
For now, Barbara Palvin and Dylan Sprouse have not publicly revealed their daughter’s name. During the pregnancy, they admitted that they had yet to agree on the final choice and explained that, while searching for the perfect name, they affectionately referred to their baby as principessa, the Italian word for “princess”.
