Singer Beyoncé appeared in a custom-made Haute Couture “Wido Heliosphere” dress designed by Iris Van Herpen.
“It has been a great honor to design and create the custom “Heliosphere Vest” for Beyoncé. In her epic Renaissance tour, Beyoncé embodies female empowerment. She symbolizes that confidence radiates from within and that beauty thrives in diversity. Her style is a kaleidoscope of elegance that inspired me and my team in every stitch, every bead, and every petal throughout the 700-hour journey of creating her halo-shaped dress,” Iris van Herpen said.
To create the “Heliosphere Vest,” approximately 980 hawk-like shapes were 3D-printed by casting silvered marble silicone into mirrored laser-cut contours. The hawk molds were vacuum-formed first. Each hawk shape was individually sewn onto a nude illusion tulle and interspersed with monochromatic Swarovski crystals. The floating halo is shaped like a petG heat gun to create a completely invisible and floating structure.

The dress extends with a voluminous cape made of glass organza that dazzles with mirror mylar embellishments. Twelve individuals from Iris Van Herpen’s workshop passionately created the Heliosphere dress for a total of 700 hours from start to finish.
This dress combines innovation and craftsmanship at a level of complexity that transcends Beyoncé and her movements into an ethereal constellation of light.
