Continuing their practice of showcasing the work of various associations, collectives, and artisans involved in the production of their fashion collections, Dior has revealed the “making of” their women’s collection, Bombay, for the upcoming Autumn 2023 season.
This behind-the-scenes glimpse unveils all the intricacies and secrets that were involved in creating this collection, which was presented last March.
The new documentary aims to shed light on the collectives and artisans who have contributed, and continue to contribute, their expertise to the making of the pieces in this Autumn 2023 collection.
These designs, for now, can only be discovered through the video and various visual documentation produced by the French fashion house for the collection’s presentation.

In the video, we can witness the deep relationship that Dior, under the creative direction of Maria Grazia Chiuri for their women’s collections, has built over the past years with the Chanakya workshops and the Chanakya School of Craft in Bombay. These institutions, driven and led by Karishma Swali, embody Dior’s extraordinary embroidery techniques and serve as an initiative to empower women in the country, while also acting as a bridge between France and India.
“These exclusive images reveal every stage of this incredible genesis,” advancing “from the inspirations” that shaped the collection to “the captivating dialogues with artisans” and the “spectacle that took place last March in Bombay,” explains the French fashion house.
“With this line,” they add, “the creative director aimed to highlight the collaboration and unwavering friendship she has forged over many years with Karishma Swali, who remains at the helm of the Chanakya Ateliers and the Chanakya School of Craft.”
