Brad Pitt advises young actors to steer clear of superhero films, warning that they could harm their authenticity and career.

In a candid conversation on the New Heights podcast, hosted by Travis and Jason Kelce, Brad Pitt made it clear that he doesn’t believe success in Hollywood should require donning a cape or joining a billion-dollar franchise. At 61, the Oscar-winning actor shared his thoughts on the challenges facing new talent and offered a piece of advice that has sparked debate across the industry: “Don’t do it! They’re going to die!” he warned, referring to superhero films.

“I like seeing what the new generation brings. They enjoy it more. We were more uptight—everything had to be about acting… not selling out,” he explained. “Now they can be artists in so many different areas, and I love that. But they also fall into the trap of thinking they need a franchise or a superhero role to succeed. I tell them they don’t.”

Though he had a cameo in Deadpool 2, Pitt has never starred in a superhero movie or taken part in franchises like the Marvel or DC Universes. His only real foray into blockbuster franchises was the Ocean’s Eleven trilogy, where he played Rusty Ryan alongside George Clooney.

With this reflection, Brad Pitt offers a subtle critique of Hollywood’s current model and its reliance on formulaic franchises. At a time when many emerging actors seek instant visibility, Pitt suggests a more liberated and diverse path: art over spectacle.
