Brad Pitt will lead The Riders, a European drama directed by Edward Berger and backed by A24, Plan B, and Scott Free.
Brad Pitt is taking on a new acting challenge with The Riders, the highly anticipated adaptation of Tim Winton’s novel, directed by Edward Berger, best known for Conclave. The project will be financed and distributed by A24, with filming scheduled to begin in early 2026 across various European locations.
The story follows a man who relocates to Ireland with his family, only to be thrown into a desperate search after his wife mysteriously disappears. The screenplay is being adapted by David Kajganich, with production handled by Plan B (Brad Pitt), Nine Hours (Edward Berger), and Scott Free (Ridley Scott).
This announcement follows Pitt’s involvement in the Formula 1 film with director Joseph Kosinski, and adds to his busy slate, which also includes The Continuing Adventures of Cliff Booth, a spin-off of Once Upon a Time in Hollywood. That project will be directed by David Fincher with a script by Quentin Tarantino, and is being developed for Netflix.
Pitt’s return to a profound and emotionally driven narrative like The Riders is shaping up to be one of 2026’s standout titles. Could another award nomination be on the horizon?
