Cate Blanchett Modernizes Lydia Tár’s Attire at a Special Gathering, Adding a Contemporary Twist to the Iconic Character.

Cate Blanchett has been spotted wearing denim dresses everywhere from movie premieres to Milan Fashion Week. On Friday, the Oscar winner met up with her co-star, Nina Hoss, for a night out in London.

The actresses attended an event following the premiere of Anton Chekhov’s 1904 production, ‘The Cherry Orchard,’ directed by Benedict Andrews. Hoss, who portrayed Blanchett’s long-suffering wife in ‘Tàr,’ stars alongside Adeel Akhtar in the project that tells the story of oppressed Russian aristocrats.

Naturally, Blanchett showed her support for the German actress by sporting an outfit that would make Lydia Tàr proud. Blanchett’s denim jacket, buttoned up to the collar, featured a dark washed fabric with panels of navy blue. The actress paired her coat with loose-fitting matching jeans. Additionally, Blanchett completed her look with black boots, a casual hairstyle, and a pair of her signature round glasses. Hoss, on the other hand, opted for a simpler style with a black coat, dress pants, and pointed shoes.
