The iconic Batman villain could headline her first live-action television series, with Lauren LeFranc, creator of The Penguin, attached to the HBO project.
Poison Ivy is one step closer to getting her own television series. HBO and DC Studios are developing a live-action production centred on one of the most recognisable villains in the Batman universe, with Lauren LeFranc, creator of The Penguin, in talks to join the project as a producer. The news, first reported by Deadline and subsequently covered by The Hollywood Reporter, would mark the first time the character has headlined her own live-action television series.
However, the new series is not expected to be part of The Batman universe, established by director Matt Reeves and starring Robert Pattinson. Unlike The Penguin, the production would tell an independent story, although it remains unclear how it would fit into DC Studios’ wider plans.
First introduced in 1966, the villain, whose real name is Pamela Isley, is a botanist with the ability to control plant life and use her powers to protect the natural world. However, her radical methods frequently bring her into conflict with the Dark Knight.
Her most memorable big-screen portrayal came courtesy of Uma Thurman in Batman & Robin (1997). The character subsequently appeared in television series including Gotham, Batwoman and the animated production Harley Quinn, in which she has a romantic relationship with the title character.
The potential involvement of Lauren LeFranc follows the success of The Penguin, starring Colin Farrell, which won nine Emmy Awards in 2025.
For now, HBO has not confirmed the cast, writing team or a premiere date, and the project remains in the early stages of development.
