The Métiers d’art 2026 collection by Chanel arrives in the New York subway with a proposal that blends craftsmanship, urban culture and the new creative vision of Matthieu Blazy, transforming an unexpected setting into a runway.

Chanel has brought its new Métiers d’art 2026 collection to the heart of the New York subway, turning one of the city’s most everyday spaces into an unconventional catwalk. With the presence of new ambassadors A$AP Rocky and Ayo Edebiri, the House opens a defining chapter under the creative direction of Matthieu Blazy, who signs his first proposal for the Maison in this “demi-couture” category, positioned between haute couture and prêt-à-porter.

The project marks a pivotal moment both for the brand and for Blazy, strengthening Chanel’s ambition to bridge tradition and modernity. The Métiers d’art line, which began in historic Parisian salons before travelling to cities such as Manchester, Shanghai, Dubai or Salzburg, returns with a more narrative and cultural approach. Blazy takes the New York subway as his starting point and turns it into an urban metaphor where students, executives, visionaries and anonymous young people coexist, each becoming the protagonist of their own story.

The collection moves through an imaginary world that stretches from the 1920s to the present day, incorporating Art Deco influences in the form of feathers, dense embroidery and jewel tones, interwoven with contemporary graphics, relaxed silhouettes and industrial-inspired fabrics. The proposal fuses Parisian sensitivity with New York energy, shifting between playful sophistication and a balance of pragmatism and eccentricity.

Blazy introduces what he calls a “new school flapper”, reinterpreting iconic codes such as tweed, chains and metallic accessories with unexpected twists: lumberjack flannel, retro fringe and animal-inspired details that add a layer of controlled irreverence. The result is a collection that reaffirms Chanel’s identity, expands the creative scope of its new director and reinforces the role of Métiers d’art as a space where exquisite craftsmanship meets contemporary culture.
