The French maison opens a bold new chapter for Métiers d’art 2026, celebrating craftsmanship, identity and movement through a campaign photographed in New York.
CHANEL has officially unveiled its highly anticipated Métiers d’art 2026 campaign, marking the beginning of a new creative era under Matthieu Blazy. Set against the cinematic energy of New York, the project reimagines one of the House’s most closely followed annual collections through a dialogue between craftsmanship, urban identity and personal transformation.
Since 2002, the Métiers d’art collections have occupied a unique place within the world of CHANEL, functioning as an annual tribute to the specialist artisans and ateliers responsible for shaping many of the House’s most intricate details, textiles and embellishments. Under Blazy’s direction, the 2026 edition embraces this legacy while introducing a more fluid, contemporary and emotionally charged perspective.

“I like the idea that fashion allows you to be whoever you want to be. It’s almost a sense of inventing your own superpowers. This is something Gabrielle Chanel knew very well,” explained Matthieu Blazy, framing the collection as an exploration of transformation and self-expression through clothing.
Photographed by Craig McDean and filmed by Rahim Fortune, the campaign follows a cast of women moving through a dreamlike New York landscape where reality and imagination quietly overlap. The collection captures an eclectic cast of characters — from socialites and students to working women and larger-than-life personas — unified through silhouettes designed to suggest movement, freedom and individuality.

Classic CHANEL codes appear throughout the collection but through a renewed lens. The iconic tweed suit is reinterpreted alongside fluid tailoring, relaxed knits, elongated evening dresses and elevated denim, while signatures such as pearls, camellias and the House’s celebrated two-tone shoes are subtly reimagined for a new generation.
Accessories inject an unexpected sense of playfulness. Sculptural headpieces, animal-inspired bags, intricate brooches and baseball caps coexist with supple leather handbags and wrap skirts, balancing fantasy with practicality. The result feels simultaneously nostalgic and forward-looking, shifting visually between references to the 1920s and 2020s.
At the heart of the collection remains an unwavering celebration of savoir-faire. Embroidery house Lesage, shoemaker Massaro, jeweller Goossens, feather specialist Lemarié, Atelier Montex and milliner Maison Michel all contribute to the extraordinary technical richness of the garments. These ateliers form part of the 11 Maisons d’art housed at le19M, CHANEL’s creative centre in Paris founded in 2021 to preserve and elevate artisanal excellence.
