The British artist unveils the details behind Music, Fashion, Film, a bold new album exploring the intersection of sound, style and cinema.

Charli XCX has officially set the stage for her next creative chapter. The British singer-songwriter has confirmed that Music, Fashion, Film, her highly anticipated new studio album, will be released on 24 July, marking a significant evolution following the cultural phenomenon that was brat. Released via Atlantic Records, the project promises to further explore the three worlds that have increasingly shaped Charli’s artistic identity in recent years: music, fashion and film.

Rather than presenting itself as a straightforward collection of songs, the album arrives as a carefully constructed artistic statement. According to the singer, the record will feature 11 tracks and run for just over thirty minutes, embracing a concise format that prioritises focus, cohesion and impact over excess. The result appears to be a project designed as much around concept and atmosphere as it is around individual singles.

One of the most talked-about aspects of the announcement is the album artwork itself. The cover brings together three influential figures from their respective creative fields: John Cale, the legendary musician and founding member of The Velvet Underground; Marc Jacobs, one of the most influential fashion designers of the modern era; and acclaimed filmmaker Martin Scorsese, whose cinematic legacy has shaped generations of storytellers.

Captured by photographer Aidan Zamiri, a frequent collaborator of Charli’s, the image functions as a visual manifesto for the album. More than a simple portrait, it encapsulates the three cultural pillars referenced in the title and reflects the creative influences that continue to inspire the artist’s work.

The connection is far from symbolic. Over the past few years, Charli XCX has steadily expanded her presence beyond the music industry. Alongside her career as a recording artist, she has collaborated with luxury fashion houses, appeared in major campaigns and become increasingly involved in film and visual storytelling projects. Earlier this year, she also worked directly with John Cale on the track ‘House’, a song featured on a project inspired by ‘Wuthering Heights’, further strengthening the artistic dialogue that now informs this new release.

The album’s title also appears closely linked to the conceptual universe introduced in ‘SS26’, one of the singles released ahead of the record. Within that track, references to fashion, cinema and music were woven into a darker, more provocative narrative, suggesting that Music, Fashion, Film is less a catalogue of disciplines and more a declaration about where Charli sees herself within contemporary culture.

With festival headline performances already scheduled later this summer and anticipation building among fans, Music, Fashion, Film looks set to become one of the most closely watched releases of the year. If brat established Charli XCX as one of pop’s defining cultural voices, this next chapter appears determined to expand that influence far beyond music alone.
