Chris Noth explains for the first time the real reason behind his personal rift with Sarah Jessica Parker, beyond fiction.

The relationship between Carrie Bradshaw and Mr Big ended abruptly on screen, but off camera the break was even more definitive. At the beginning of 2026, Chris Noth has spoken candidly about his estrangement from Sarah Jessica Parker, a fracture that had been years in the making and that, until now, he had never publicly explained.

The actor addressed the issue during a preview of his appearance on Really Famous with Kara Mayer Robinson, where he made it clear that there is no longer any personal relationship with his former co-star. “We’re not friends, I think that’s pretty obvious,” he said bluntly. According to Noth, the point of no return came after the public response from Parker and her co-stars Cynthia Nixon and Kristin Davis to the sexual assault allegations made against him in 2021.

That year, two women accused Noth of sexual assault, followed shortly by a third accuser, as well as a former colleague who spoke of inappropriate behaviour on set. In response, Parker, Nixon and Davis released a joint statement expressing their support for the women. “We are deeply saddened to hear the allegations against Chris Noth. We support the women who have come forward and shared their painful experiences,” the statement read.

For Noth, that public declaration marked the end of friendships forged over decades of working together. “The statement they put out — which was really just brand management — was sad, disappointing and shocking,” he said. The actor expressed particular disappointment that none of them contacted him before making their position public. “You’ve known me for many years, we’ve worked together for years. You need to call me and hear my side of the story,” he added.

He explained that the lack of a private conversation beforehand was what hurt him most. “Before putting out that statement, with everything we’ve been through, give me a call so I can tell you what actually happened,” he insisted. For Noth, that decision was not only painful, but permanently damaged any possibility of a personal relationship.

The actor concluded by saying the episode helped him understand who his real friends were. “I know that if the situation had been reversed, I wouldn’t have acted that way,” he said. A statement that confirms that, far from the glamour of the series, some stories simply don’t have a happy ending.
