A New York court has dismissed the lawsuit against Jay-Z and Sean Combs over the alleged rape of a minor in 2000.
On Friday, a New York court dismissed a civil lawsuit against artists Jay-Z and Sean Combs, in which they were accused of raping a minor in the year 2000. The lawsuit, filed in December under the name Jane Doe, alleged that the incident took place at a party after the MTV Music Awards.
The lawsuit was withdrawn at the request of her lawyer, Anthony Buzbee, and dismissed “with prejudice,” preventing it from being refiled in the future. Jay-Z described the court’s decision as “a victory,” denouncing the damage the accusation had caused to his family.
Combs, meanwhile, who is facing multiple lawsuits for alleged sex trafficking and related crimes, remains in custody awaiting trial. His lawyers stated that the case was part of a series of “baseless and sensationalist” lawsuits.
In an interview with NBC News, the claimant admitted to having made errors in her account but insisted that the incident occurred. Meanwhile, Combs sued NBCUniversal this week over a documentary that, according to him, falsely accuses him of being involved in various crimes, including the murder of rapper Biggie Smalls.
