David Koma Presents Lourdes León as the Muse for Resort 2025 Collection, Highlighting a Metamorphosis of Humanity and Primal Instincts
To celebrate the launch of its Resort 2025 collection, the London-based brand David Koma has unveiled a captivating new campaign featuring American model Lourdes León, also known as the daughter of the legendary Madonna. This campaign delves into a “profound metamorphosis,” where humanity and primal instincts converge, aiming to celebrate an ongoing cycle of transformation.
Drawing inspiration from two powerful women: visual artist Isabelle Albuquerque and model Veruschka, the campaign pays homage to their distinctive methods of creating art—be it Albuquerque’s life-sized sculptures or Veruschka’s transformative body painting.
In this vein, León serves as the muse for this season. “Lourdes truly embodied the metamorphosis that inspired the collection, transforming both her body and the look through her dynamic movements,” explains designer David Koma. He adds, “She exudes authenticity and possesses an unapologetic sense of self-expression, which is incredibly inspiring. She is the perfect representation of the Koma Girl: a complex character who is strong yet sensual, free yet controlled, and youthful yet mature. Watching her move like a professional dancer on set was mesmerizing; she looked sophisticated and elegant while exuding an almost animalistic grace.”
Transitioning between strength and vulnerability, and the instinctual and the artistic, the collection aims to capture this sense of metamorphosis. With soft raffia details on sequined skirts, feathery seams on dresses, and zebra-like patterns on classic denim trench coats, the Resort 2025 collection plays with a variety of textures, colors, and shapes. Additionally, the collection includes crystal mesh bikini pants, silky black leather jackets, and silver metallic chain skirts, offering an artistic juxtaposition between ornate and delicate materials and designs inspired by “animalistic” themes.
