Demi Moore won the 2025 Critics Choice Award for Best Actress for The Substance and delivered an emotional speech about perseverance.
Demi Moore continues to set an emotional tone this awards season with an inspiring speech at the 2025 Critics Choice Awards, where she won the Best Actress award for her role in The Substance. Following her victory at the Golden Globes, the actress once again took the stage to share an encouraging message for those pursuing their dreams.
“I am grateful to the Critics Choice Association for recognising what this film represents and the message it seeks to convey. Your recognition is a healing balm for the issues this story brings to light,” Moore expressed in her speech.
Although she had less time to speak than at the Golden Globes, she concluded her address with a powerful statement: “To all those who are still on their journey, still struggling to find their place because it hasn’t happened yet— that doesn’t mean it’s not happening. Dreams do come true.”
At the same ceremony, Coralie Fargeat, director and screenwriter of The Substance, won in the Best Original Screenplay category, and the film also took home the award for Best Makeup and Hairstyling. The film, which premiered at Cannes to a 13-minute standing ovation, has grossed nearly $77 million worldwide.
