Dior adds Josh O’Connor as ambassador, consolidating a creative relationship with Jonathan Anderson that dates back to 2017.
Dior has officially named Josh O’Connor as its new global ambassador, formalising a creative relationship that has been building for almost a decade. First reported by WWD, the announcement places the British actor at the heart of the Maison’s new chapter under the creative direction of Jonathan Anderson.
The connection between O’Connor and Anderson is long-standing. During his tenure at Loewe, Anderson selected the actor as his first male ambassador back in 2017, establishing a partnership rooted in shared sensibility rather than seasonal trends. That relationship has evolved organically, culminating in O’Connor’s official arrival at Dior.
It was therefore no surprise to see the actor attend Jonathan Anderson’s Dior runway debut last June. Speaking exclusively to WWD, Anderson underlined the personal nature of the collaboration: “Josh and I have worked together for many years and he is a very dear friend. He is an extraordinary actor, with a thoughtful precision in his work — quiet, measured and consistently original. This is a collaboration that continues to evolve, and I’m thrilled to have him with me for this new chapter.”
Josh O’Connor rose to international prominence through his portrayal of Prince Charles in ‘The Crown’, and has since built a career defined by author-driven projects and carefully considered roles. He has recently appeared in ‘The History of Sound’ and ‘Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery’, with 2026 shaping up to be a pivotal year.
Among his upcoming projects are ‘Disclosure Day’, the highly anticipated science-fiction blockbuster directed by Steven Spielberg, and ‘Jack of Spades’, a gothic mystery from Joel Coen set in late-19th-century Scotland.
O’Connor welcomed the announcement by highlighting the creative alignment with the house: “This collaboration with Dior feels like stepping into a world where tradition meets bold creativity. Joining the Dior family with Jonathan Anderson at the helm is incredibly exciting.” He added that the designer’s vision — “honouring the history of the house while pushing it forward” — resonates deeply with his own artistic instincts.
With this appointment, Dior reinforces a strategy centred on long-term creative relationships, where personal affinity, aesthetic coherence and artistic integrity matter as much as visibility. In Josh O’Connor, the Maison gains an ambassador who embodies a quiet, contemporary elegance, perfectly aligned with Dior’s evolving narrative.
