Taylor Swift’s new docuseries reveals how Emma Stone played a decisive role in one of the most important creative choices behind ‘The Eras Tour’.

Taylor Swift’s creative machine continues to surprise. This week, the artist has made headlines with the release of ‘The End of an Era’, her new docuseries for Disney+ — a six-episode project that documents, from the inside, nearly two years of the most ambitious and lucrative tour of her career. Between viral speeches, intimate phone calls before stepping on stage and moments of total vulnerability, one detail has particularly caught attention: the key — and little-known — role of Emma Stone in the conception of ‘The Eras Tour’.

In the second episode of the series, Swift herself acknowledges her friend’s direct influence on one of the show’s most important decisions: the choreography. As the singer began searching for the right person to shape the visual language of a tour that needed to condense her entire artistic narrative, she turned to Emma Stone, with whom she has maintained a close friendship for years and to whom she even dedicated the song ‘When Emma Falls in Love’, included on Speak Now.

“When it came to choreography, I asked one of my friends, Emma Stone, who has worked extensively with dance in her films: ‘Who would you recommend?’” Swift explains in the docuseries. The answer was immediate and unequivocal: “There is only one person who should be on your list: Mandy Moore.”

Mandy Moore, a renowned film and television choreographer, had previously worked with Stone on ‘La La Land’, as well as creating choreography for titles such as ‘Glee’ and ‘Silver Linings Playbook’. However, the world of large-scale music tours was not part of her usual trajectory — something she openly acknowledges in the series: “I never thought I would be mentioned in the same sentence as Taylor Swift.”

The creative connection was immediate. Moore understood that Swift’s songs functioned as “little films”, and that narrative-driven approach proved key in building a show that is not only sung and danced, but also told. The collaboration was so fluid that Moore later went on to choreograph the music video for Swift’s recent hit ‘The Fate of Ophelia’.

Far from being a simple cameo between famous friends, Emma Stone’s involvement highlights how ‘The Eras Tour’ is the result of a carefully woven network of creative alliances. A reminder that, even behind the world’s biggest global phenomena, the most decisive choices sometimes begin with a conversation between friends.

‘The End of an Era’ is now available on Disney+, with new episodes released weekly.
