The actress, best known for her role as Hermione Granger in ‘Harry Potter’, has made a surprising career shift.

After six years without a film release, Emma Watson has decided to step away from acting to focus on her academic pursuits. Watson has enrolled at the University of Oxford to study Philosophy and is attending classes in person, without any special treatment. The actress integrates into campus life just like any other student, attending lectures and participating in social events.

She is seen mingling with other students and adapting to the environment. She attends social events and often spends time in cafés with her books and her partner,” says Oxford Mail. Watson seems to be enjoying her time at Oxford and is settling in well to university life.

Watson’s connection to Oxford runs deep. From a young age, when she attended the Stagecoach Theatre Arts school, which is associated with the university, she has had ties to the institution. After finishing the ‘Harry Potter‘ saga, she graduated in English Literature from Brown University. Years later, she returned to academia, this time at Oxford, to study Creative Writing.

Emma Watson has explained several times that her move away from acting wasn’t an impulsive decision, but rather a necessary process for her personal well-being. In an interview, she admitted that she felt “trapped” by the pressures of the film industry. She found it difficult to be the public face of projects over which she had no total control: “What I found really hard was having to go out and promote something that I had no control over. Feeling like I had to be the spokesperson for something I wasn’t fully involved in was challenging,” the actress states.
