Ferragamo supports female artisans in Burkina Faso with a cotton dyeing factory, boosting employment, sustainability, and inclusion.
Ferragamo strengthens its commitment to sustainability and social responsibility through its collaboration with the Ethical Fashion Initiative (EFI), supporting female artisans in Burkina Faso. Since 2022, the Italian brand has contributed to the creation of the first cotton dyeing factory in West Africa, located in Ouagadougou and set to begin operations in 2026.

This project, backed by the European Union, promotes the production and commercialization of Faso Dan Fani, a traditional cotton fabric, ensuring high standards of quality and traceability. The factory is expected to produce 24 tonnes of dyed yarn per year, creating 80 direct and indirect jobs in weaving, logistics, and dyeing.
Beyond the textile industry, Ferragamo supports artisanal home décor production. In 2025, the brand Hands of Fashion will launch a collection of handmade cushions using locally sourced cotton, strengthening the economy of weavers.

Leonardo Ferragamo, president of the brand, highlights that this initiative reflects the company’s commitment to gender equality and inclusion, ensuring that craftsmanship remains a tool for social and economic transformation.
