Glen Powell leads this more faithful version of ‘The Running Man’, a deadly chase turned into the biggest TV show.

The countdown has begun. The first official trailer for The Running Man, directed by Edgar Wright and starring Glen Powell, is here. The film, based on the 1982 novel written by Stephen King under the pseudonym Richard Bachman, plunges us into a dystopian future where survival becomes the ultimate television spectacle.

In this version more faithful to the book than the 1987 Schwarzenegger film, Powell plays Ben Richards, a desperate man trying to save his sick daughter who signs up as a contestant on ‘The Running Man, a deadly live broadcast game. For 30 days, Richards must survive while being hunted by professional killers across the country. Alongside him is a heavyweight cast: Josh Brolin, Colman Domingo, and Michael Cera.

The trailer showcases Wright’s dizzying aesthetic packed with social satire, delivering a clear message about media power and the brutality of modern entertainment. Additionally, there is a special nod to Schwarzenegger, approved by the actor himself.

The Running Man will be released on 7th November 2025.
