Harry Styles unveils the music video for ‘Coming Up Roses’, inspiring new theories about love and romantic relationships.
Harry Styles is once again capturing the music industry’s attention with the release of the music video for ‘Coming Up Roses’, a track from his fourth studio album, Kiss All the Time. Disco, Occasionally. The 32-year-old British singer unveiled the video on 26 October, and fans were quick to share their theories about the meaning behind its distinctive visual narrative.
For this latest production, Styles has reunited with Bradley & Pablo, the creative duo he previously collaborated with on the music videos for ‘Watermelon Sugar’ and ‘Late Night Talking’. This time, however, the artist embraces a more introspective narrative, using dance as the primary means of expressing emotion.
The music video takes place in an unusual dance class, bringing together people of different ages and backgrounds. Among the characters are a bride dressed in white and a man wearing a neck brace, two unexpected figures who add an intriguing element to the storyline.
Throughout the sequence, Harry Styles dances and repeatedly switches partners, creating a series of encounters and farewells that many viewers have interpreted as a representation of human relationships.
On social media, particularly Reddit, fans have begun analysing every detail of the video. One of the most widely discussed theories suggests that the choreography symbolises the search for love, while the changing partners reflect the different romantic connections we experience throughout our lives.
Others believe the story explores emotional vulnerability, the fear of rejection and the desire to form genuine connections. Although the singer has yet to confirm an official interpretation, his previous comments offer some clues.
During an interview with Zane Lowe, Styles revealed that ‘Coming Up Roses’ was originally conceived as a Christmas song, before evolving into a ballad about the importance of cherishing relationships, even when they are not destined to last forever.
The release comes as his ‘Together, Together’ residency, comprising 30 performances at New York’s Madison Square Garden, draws to a close. The singer will mark the end of this chapter with two special Harryween concerts, scheduled for 30 and 31 October.
