In conversation with Vogue, the 28-year-old model and founder of Rhode spoke candidly about becoming a mother, the birth of her son Jack Blues, her relationship with Justin Bieber, and the psychological toll of relentless scrutiny from social media and the press.
A Difficult Birth and Life-Changing Motherhood
“Giving birth was the hardest thing I’ve ever done,” Hailey confessed. After her waters broke at 39 weeks, she was induced and endured 18 hours of labour before suffering a postpartum haemorrhage. “I was bleeding so much… People die from this. That thought crosses your mind.” A Jada device intervention stopped the bleeding, but Hailey had to wait before holding her baby for the first time. “I just wanted to have him in my arms.”
Since then, safeguarding their privacy has been a top priority: “We don’t take him many places. It feels cruel to expose a baby to all of this.” She also revealed she’s unsure whether she’ll have more children: “One child at a time.”
Rumours, False Headlines, and Justin’s Support
Regarding her relationship, Hailey was firm: “There’s a headline every other day that makes no sense. We’re not leaving Los Angeles. We love living here.” In response to the separation rumours, she added: “We’ve been together seven years. We’ve had a child. And they’re still going? I guess these bitches are just going to stay mad.”
