The British royal family is planning a historic trip to the United States in 2026 – but Harry and Meghan may be entirely left out.

Next summer is shaping up to be a historic moment for the British monarchy. According to several outlets, the Prince and Princess of Wales, William and Kate, are considering travelling to the United States to take part in the 4 July 2026 celebrations, marking the 250th anniversary of American independence. A landmark occasion that could also include King Charles III and Queen Camilla, despite the monarch continuing his cancer treatment.

According to Page Six, the King has reportedly received a formal invitation for a State Visit to Washington in April 2026. The same source suggests that next year could involve several trips by senior members of the royal family to American soil, in an effort to strengthen diplomatic ties between the two nations. “We expect all senior members of the Royal Family to come. It will be a huge year for the United States and the United Kingdom,” the insider explained.

However, this apparent royal unity would not include the Duke and Duchess of Sussex. Harry and Meghan, who have lived in Montecito since 2020 after stepping back from their roles as senior royals, would be excluded from any official engagement. According to the same source, their attendance is not part of the Waleses’ plans and would only be possible if the invitation came directly from the royal family itself. “Obviously the Sussexes are not active members, so they won’t be invited. Any invitation would have to come from the Royal Family,” the insider added.

As the 2026 trip begins to take shape, the distance between both branches of the family once again becomes evident, feeding a narrative that seems endless in the new era of King Charles III’s reign.
