Jacob Tierney reveals how ‘Más que rivales’ season 2 will evolve: a more mature, emotional story centred on the relationship between its protagonists.

The second season of ‘Heated Rivalry’ is already underway, and its creator, Jacob Tierney, has made it clear that the shift will be significant. While the first instalment revolved around tension and desire, the upcoming episodes will explore something far more complex: what happens after a relationship begins.

“The second season will be different because now they’re in a relationship,” Tierney explained. A turning point that moves the focus into more mature territory, where emotional depth takes precedence over initial impulse. The story will delve into the balance between public and private life, and how to sustain a bond that is not always easy to navigate.

This new direction promises a more realistic narrative, where the protagonists must confront increasingly complex dynamics. “They’re two adults in a relationship that isn’t simple. How do you navigate that?” the creator reflects.

Although readers of Rachel Reid’s original novels may already anticipate the direction of the story, Tierney assures there will be nuances and creative decisions that bring freshness to the adaptation. The goal: to preserve the essence while deepening emotional layers that resonate with the audience.

“I want to keep trusting the original material, Rachel, and my instincts. It worked the first time,” he states — hinting at a second season that embraces continuity while allowing for evolution.

The creator also acknowledges the external noise generated by the series’ success, though his stance remains clear: “I’m going to focus on the work and tune out the opinions.”

In Spain, Movistar+ will once again be the platform airing the second season, further expanding its reach beyond Canada and strengthening its presence within the European market.
