Hermès dazzles in Milan with a sensory installation that transforms everyday objects into visual, tactile, and emotional poetry.

During Milan Design Week 2025, Hermès presents What Makes the Object, an immersive installation that invites visitors to rediscover the essence of everyday objects. In a space that erases the boundaries between form and function, the French maison transforms furniture, tableware, glass, and textiles into pieces brimming with emotion, memory, and silent beauty.

Glass takes centre stage in this edition, with creations such as the Vase Casaque and the Jars Doublé d’Hermès, which combine artisan techniques with stunning visual effects. Light and angle reveal subtle nuances in their shapes, evoking movement within solid matter. The Pivot d’Hermès table, with its rotating base of glass and cedar wood, adds a playful and philosophical touch to the collection.

In textiles, standout pieces include blankets designed by Amer Musa, which merge art, music, and tradition through embroidery and cashmere fabrics adorned with gold applications. The compositions invite both touch and slow contemplation.

In this way, Hermès reaffirms its vision of luxury: not as ostentation, but as a celebration of detail, craftsmanship, and time. In Milan, objects not only are exhibited, but breathe, converse, and move the soul.
