Jason Momoa returns as Duncan Idaho in ‘Dune: Messiah’. The actor confirmed the news in an interview, teasing his highly anticipated comeback to the epic saga.

Jason Momoa has officially revealed his return to the ‘Dune‘ franchise. The 45-year-old actor confirmed the news during an interview on the TODAY show with Craig Melvin, where he spoke about his role in the upcoming film ‘Dune: Messiah‘.

Momoa played swordmaster Duncan Idaho in ‘Dune‘ (2021), a character who died in the first instalment and did not appear in ‘Dune: Part Two‘ (2024). However, the interviewer pointed out that in Frank Herbert’s Dune book series, Duncan returns as a clone. In response, Momoa enthusiastically stated: “I don’t know if I’m going to get in trouble, but it’s like ‘Game of Thrones‘, you know? If you didn’t read the books, it’s not my fault, right? Yeah, there’s going to be… I’m coming back. I’m making a comeback. You heard it here first”.

Meanwhile, director Denis Villeneuve revealed in an interview with Deadline that ‘Dune: Messiah’ will be completely different and will take place 12 years after ‘Dune: Part Two’. He also confirmed the return of Timothée Chalamet, Zendaya, Florence Pugh, and Anya Taylor-Joy, assuring fans that the story will take a new direction within the Dune universe.
