Last year, the actress played a key role in the ceremony as she was responsible for presenting the Honorary Palme d’Or to Meryl Streep.

Juliette Binoche’s journey at the Cannes Film Festival has been extensive, with numerous appearances over the years. In 2010, she won the Best Actress award for her role in ‘Certified Copy‘, and in 2023, she starred in ‘The Taste of Things‘, a film that earned the Best Director award. In 2025, the French actress—an Oscar and multiple César award winner—has been selected as the president of the jury for the festival’s 78th edition, following her prominent role in the previous edition, where she had the honour of presenting the Honorary Palme d’Or to Meryl Streep.

The 2025 Cannes Film Festival will take place from 13 to 24 May, with the full jury line-up set to be announced in April. Binoche expressed her excitement at her appointment and her return to Cannes in such a significant role. “In 1985, I walked up the festival steps for the first time with the excitement and uncertainty of a young actress. I never imagined that 40 years later, I would return as the president of the jury. It is an honour, a great responsibility, and, above all, an exercise in humility.”

Beyond her presence on the big screen, Binoche has also strengthened her ties with the fashion world. During last year’s festival, she captivated attendees with several Dior creations, including an elegant off-the-shoulder red gown and a sophisticated white suit, both designed by Maria Grazia Chiuri, with whom the actress has a close relationship. “She would send me sketches via text, and we would decide together. She is accessible and genuine—working like this is a real pleasure,” Binoche shared enthusiastically.

Her connection with fashion has deepened even further since she portrayed Coco Chanel in Apple TV+’s ‘The New Look‘. This role has led her to attend Paris Fashion Week more frequently, where she has been seen at shows such as Dior, Armani Privé, and KENZO. “It’s a way for me to continue exploring this world,” she remarked during Courrèges’ Spring 2025 show.

Since her Cannes debut in ‘Rendez-vous‘ by André Téchiné, Binoche has been a key figure at the festival, cementing her status as one of its most beloved stars. Now, she returns to lead the selection of the best film in what promises to be an unforgettable event.
