Trans musician Kim Petras discusses her “slut” era as she releases her highly anticipated debut album, “Feed the Beast”.
In a new interview, Petras reveals that her latest EP, “Slut Pop,” was a liberating embodiment. “I was trying to have as much fun as possible with the most provocative character I could create,” she says. “I was someone who would say whatever they damn well pleased.”
With songs like “Throat Goat” and “Treat Me Like A Slut,” the German pop star made it clear that she was embracing pleasure without apologies. However, she wants people to know that it goes beyond that. It was an act of solidarity. “It was at a time when OnlyFans was going to ban sex workers,” Petras explains. “I have many friends who rely on sex work for their transition. It’s very normal in my world, and I see nothing wrong with sex work. I wanted those girls to feel empowered.”
