South Korean actor Kim Soo-hyun has spoken out for the first time regarding allegations made by the late actress Kim Sae-ron’s family, who claimed that he was in a relationship with her when she was underage. During a press conference on 3 April, Soo-hyun firmly denied ever dating Sae-ron as a minor and stated emphatically that he is not a “paedophile.”

The controversy erupted when Sae-ron’s family released private text messages and photos of the actor and actress, suggesting their relationship began when she was just 15 years old. However, Soo-hyun maintained that they only started dating in 2019, when Sae-ron was 19, and that their relationship lasted approximately one year.

The actor also dismissed allegations of “grooming” and insisted that the evidence presented by the family was fabricated. He revealed that he had submitted the disputed conversations to a verification agency, which concluded that the messages from 2016 and 2018 were not from the same person.

Visibly emotional, Kim Soo-hyun expressed his distress over the situation while denying any wrongdoing. The controversy continues to spark mixed reactions on social media as he proceeds with legal action against the allegations.
