Kyle MacLachlan is open to returning to ‘Desperate Housewives‘—if the script and the direction of the character are appealing to him.

The actor hasn’t ruled out the possibility of reprising his role in ‘Desperate Housewives’, though he clarifies it would depend on how the project is approached. The 66-year-old spoke exclusively about the idea of returning as Orson Hodge in the anticipated reboot of the hit series, which aired on ABC from 2004 to 2012. Kyle MacLachlan noted that going back to ‘Wisteria Lane’ “would be fun”, recalling that the iconic neighbourhood still exists on the Universal Studios lot and is part of the studio tour.

However, the actor made it clear that he would carefully consider any offer and approach it with a fresh perspective. “If ‘Desperate Housewives’ came back and I were asked to return, I’d need to see the script and understand what they have planned for my character,” he explained. For him, it would be essential to assess the story, the character development, and the creative process before making a final decision.

This consideration ties into his previous experience with Twin Peaks, where he agreed to return after creator David Lynch reinvented the journey of Agent Dale Cooper. MacLachlan pointed out that in that case, he played several different versions of the character, allowing him to explore new dimensions within a classic story.

In addition to his acting career, Kyle MacLachlan has gained popularity on social media thanks to his unique comedic style. He recently collaborated with Lyft on a creative Father’s Day video, in which he transformed himself using various costumes and wigs. The content was part of the launch of Lyft Silver, a service designed to make the app more accessible for older adults, featuring live phone support and vehicles with easier access.

MacLachlan’s openness to new challenges and his willingness to revisit iconic roles help keep interest in his career alive, as well as in the kinds of landmark projects that define television eras. His return to Desperate Housewives could become a major headline—if the script and creative proposal meet his expectations.
