Robert De Niro’s grandson, Leandro De Niro Rodriguez, has passed away.

The mother of the late child, Drena De Niro, Robert’s eldest daughter with ex-wife Diahnne Abbott, confirmed the news in an emotional statement over the weekend.

“My beautiful and sweet angel. I have loved you beyond words or description from the moment I felt you in my womb,” she wrote.

“You have been my joy, my heart, and everything that was ever pure and real in my life. I wish I were with you right now. I wish I were with you. I don’t know how to live without you, but I will try to carry on and spread the love and light that you made me feel by becoming your mom,” she continued.

“You were so deeply loved and cherished, and I wish that love alone could have saved you. I am so sorry, my baby, I am so sorry @carlosmare. Rest in Peace and Eternal Paradise, my dear child.”

The cause of death has not yet been made public.

Leandro starred alongside Drena in the 2018 film A Star Is Born, where he portrayed the son of Dave Chappelle’s character George “Noodles” Stone.

He and his mother also appeared together in The Collection (2005) and Cabaret Maxime (2018).
