While we are still excited about the box office success of Greta Gerwig’s Barbie movie, there is another doll-themed film in the works, as Lily Collins has just been cast to play Polly Pocket.
Initially announced in 2021, the movie is directed and written by Lena Dunham, offering a “smart and playful” cinematic experience for young women, without any “condescension.” Sharing in an interview with Variety, Dunham said, “Polly Pocket was responsible for countless hours of childhood escape for me; Polly offered me a little world of magic and autonomy to narrate, so it’s quite poetic to approach these same ideas now as a director.”
While Collins takes on the lead role, she is also credited as a producer. “As a girl who was obsessed with Polly Pocket, this truly is a dream come true, and I can’t wait to bring these little toys to the big screen,” she added.
Filming has not yet begun, and additional details are yet to be confirmed. Stay tuned for further updates.
