Nicolas Ghesquière brings Louis Vuitton and Singer together to transform two classic Porsche 911s into exclusive design pieces inspired by travel and craftsmanship.

The world of Louis Vuitton is once again moving beyond the boundaries of fashion and firmly into the automotive sphere. Nicolas Ghesquière, Artistic Director of the Maison’s Women’s Collections, has collaborated with Singer, the prestigious American specialist renowned for restoring and reimagining classic Porsche 911s, to create a spectacular bespoke vehicle that brings together engineering, luxury and exceptional craftsmanship.

At the heart of the project is a Porsche 911 Reimagined by Singer – Classic Turbo, conceived by Ghesquière as an extension of his distinctive aesthetic vision. The car features an elegant ivory-white cabriolet body, complemented by precious wood details reminiscent of sophisticated classic motorboats.

The inspiration also has strong links to California, where the designer owns a celebrated residence designed by architect John Lautner. The freedom associated with the West Coast lifestyle, modernist design and Ghesquière’s longstanding fascination with cars converge in a genuinely one-of-a-kind creation.

The designer’s passion for motoring is nothing new. His first Louis Vuitton campaign in 2014 featured an extraordinary 1972 Maserati Boomerang, already demonstrating an enthusiasm that has now evolved into something considerably more ambitious.

Interestingly, the collaboration between Louis Vuitton and Singer began with a watch. Singer wanted to develop a detachable dashboard clock inspired by Louis Vuitton’s emblematic Tambour, with the piece created by the Maison’s La Fabrique du Temps Louis Vuitton workshops in Switzerland.

However, that initial concept quickly developed. Both companies realised they could bring the Maison’s artisanal expertise to numerous functional components of the car, drawing on its knowledge of leather craftsmanship, watchmaking and design.

The result is two unique Porsche 911s based on vehicles dating from the early 1990s, unveiled during Monterey Car Week in Pebble Beach, one of the world’s leading events for collectors of classic and exceptional automobiles. Their prices have not been disclosed.

Alongside Ghesquière’s creation is a second Porsche 911 reimagined by Singer, finished in a striking combination of saffron yellow and cobalt blue. Its aesthetic directly references Louis Vuitton’s historic connection with travel.

This second car also features a roof rack capable of carrying everything from a trunk to a surfboard or a pair of skis, transforming Louis Vuitton’s celebrated Art of Travel philosophy into something quite literally designed for the road.

The degree of customisation extends to virtually every detail. Louis Vuitton’s signature Monogram flowers appear in the ventilation perforations of the leather seats, as well as on the headrests and sun visors. Even technical elements, including the fuel and oil caps, incorporate graphic references borrowed from the Maison’s watchmaking universe.

Singer has approached every transition between materials, metallic surfaces, mechanical components and finishes with extraordinary precision. The intention was to bring to the automotive world the meticulous attention to detail normally associated with Louis Vuitton’s most exclusive handcrafted creations.

The collaboration goes even further, as each car is accompanied by an exclusive capsule collection designed specifically for its owner.

The Porsche Classic comes with 17 pieces, including a racing jacket, jeans, shoes, driving gloves, a helmet, a Keepall bag, surfboard and skis. Bespoke bags have even been created to fit perfectly inside the car’s front luggage compartment.

The Porsche 911 Classic Turbo designed by Nicolas Ghesquière takes the concept further with 22 exclusive pieces. These include a made-to-measure parachute-silk suit, trainers, driving gloves, a helmet, several of the Maison’s iconic bags and a Tambour Automatic watch.

The initiative arrives as Louis Vuitton strengthens its relationship with the automotive world, driven by its partnership with Formula 1 and the revival of its historic involvement with classic-car events. With Singer and Nicolas Ghesquière, the Maison turns the Porsche 911 into far more than a collector’s car: it becomes an expression of craftsmanship, travel and contemporary luxury.
