Megan Thee Stallion, Openly Bisexual, Faces Queer-Baiting Accusations Following the Release of Her Album “MEGAN,” Sparking Debate on Social Media
Despite being openly bisexual, Megan Thee Stallion is facing accusations of queer-baiting following the release of her album ‘MEGAN’. On social media, some fans have questioned her intentions regarding her sexuality. A deleted tweet stated: “Adopting bisexuality to appeal to the LGBT community without actually dating women is strange.” These accusations have also been directed at artists like Doja Cat and Nicki Minaj.
However, Megan’s fans know that she has always been open about her sexuality. In a 2022 interview on ‘Caresha Please,’ she discussed bisexuality with Yung Miami, saying: “Girls are just so sensual” and jokingly adding: “Girl-on-girl sex can last for two days.” Additionally, in her song ‘Captain Hook,’ she sings: “I’m texting with a bi girl, both of us are freaky, just trying things out.”
Cardi B addressed the topic of queer-baiting in 2021, arguing that it pressures artists to reveal personal aspects of their sexuality. She tweeted: “If an artist kisses a girl in a video, does that mean they have to show videos and messages with other women?”
Megan is not the first to be accused of queer-baiting. In 2023, Puerto Rican musician Bad Bunny faced similar accusations and defended his style in an interview with Vanity Fair, saying: “You do it because you want to and it makes you feel good.”
Queer-baiting remains a controversial topic, and while it’s crucial to protect queer representation, the accusations can sometimes border on biphobia, as seen in this case.
