The highly anticipated biopic ‘Michael’, based on the life of Michael Jackson, has had its release pushed back to 2026, generating significant buzz and speculation.

If you were expecting to watch ‘Michael’, the long-awaited Michael Jackson biopic, in 2025, you’ll need to be a bit more patient. Lionsgate has confirmed that the release has been postponed to 2026, with indications that the film will be split into two parts. Directed by Antoine Fuqua and starring Jaafar Jackson, the King of Pop’s nephew, the project has been a major talking point.

With a budget of $155 million and produced by Graham King (of “Bohemian Rhapsody” fame), ‘Michael’ promises an epic portrayal of the music icon’s life and legacy. The star-studded cast also features Colman Domingo, Nia Long, Miles Teller and Kat Graham, among others.

Lionsgate CEO Jon Feltheimer announced that the release strategy is being redefined following the completion of three and a half hours of footage. This move will not only impact the studio’s 2026 projections but also strengthen its 2027 release schedule.
