Nicole Kidman confirms her return alongside Sandra Bullock for the sequel to Practical Magic, promising more magic and mystery.
Nicole Kidman has confirmed she will reprise her role as Gillian Owens in a sequel to the 1998 film, Practical Magic.
Earlier this week, Deadline reported that Sandra Bullock and Nicole Kidman were in talks to return in Practical Magic 2, a sequel to the Warner Bros. romantic fantasy film.
Akiva Goldsman, who co-wrote the original film with Robin Swicord and Adam Brooks, will return to pen the script. Bullock and Kidman are expected to also serve as producers. In an interview with People today, Kidman went beyond the rumors, confirming her role and mentioning that Bullock will also return as Gillian’s older sister, Sally.
“Yes, I’m going to be in it. And Sandy’s going to be in it. That’s it,” Kidman told People. “There’s a lot of story to tell, that’s why we thought, ‘OK, this could be interesting now to go back.’ [We’ve] found a way to do it.”
No details about the sequel’s plot have been disclosed. The original film centered around a curse causing any man the sisters romantically loved to die, preventing them from finding true love. It’s believed this sequel will draw inspiration from events in Alice Hoffman’s fourth book of the series.
With Kidman’s confirmation, fans of the original film can eagerly anticipate the return of the magic and charm that made Practical Magic a cult classic.
