Apple TV+ is developing a high-profile new project titled Margo’s Got Money Troubles, starring Nicole Kidman, Michelle Pfeiffer, and Elle Fanning. The eight-episode series will be produced by A24 and is based on the upcoming novel of the same name by Rufi Thorpe, set to be published in June 2024. The adaptation will be helmed by David E. Kelley, creator of Big Little Lies, marking his fourth collaboration with Kidman.
The plot follows Margo Millet (played by Fanning), a young woman facing financial difficulties and an unexpected pregnancy after a romance with her professor. Her mother, portrayed by Pfeiffer, is a former Hooters waitress struggling to reconnect with her daughter. Kidman’s role has not been revealed yet, but her participation as an executive producer alongside Fanning and her sister Dakota promises to bring a powerful dynamic to the project.
Margo’s Got Money Troubles will be a story of resilience and survival, tackling current issues such as economic instability and female autonomy.
