Nya Wallace, portrayed by Karen Pittman, will be wearing the Paracas Inti Dress from Peruvian brand Balkanica in “And Just Like That.”

Balkanica, a brand that combines design and cultural heritage by reinterpreting Peruvian pre-Hispanic symbols, makes its appearance in the sequel to “Sex and The City,” “And Just Like That.”

The dress worn by the actress belongs to the Resort 2023 collection, titled “Solar,” and pays homage to the Andean deity by representing its versatility, movement, and wisdom.

This is the first time a national brand has appeared in the series, and although it was a surprise for them, they are proud to see Peruvian fashion crossing borders.

“It’s not something we forced; the dress shone on its own, and that is exciting. This dress goes beyond being just a beautiful piece; it is a symbol that reflects the deep connection between Peruvian fashion and cultural heritage,” comments Tania Jelicic, creative director of Balkanica.

“I am very proud because it’s not something we forced; the dress shone on its own, and that is exciting. This dress goes beyond being just a beautiful piece; it is a symbol that reflects the deep connection between Peruvian fashion and cultural heritage. Inspired by Inti, the Sun God, this design was conceived to represent the versatility, movement, wisdom, and energy of this important deity in our culture,” Jelicic points out.

“In July 2022, we attended Miami Swim Week, where the costume directors of the series approached our booth. We introduced our brand and took photographs of some of our pieces. After a few months, they contacted us requesting several pieces, which we sent to New York. Finally, we were surprised to discover in the two trailers that the actress Karen Pittman would be wearing one of our iconic dresses, the Paracas Inti Dress,” Jelicic reveals.

The brand presents two collections per year. For the Resort 2023 season, the brand proposed a fusion of colors and patterns that redefine minimalism by incorporating solid color blocks and bold textures, evoking Peruvian culture and landscapes, representing symbols such as the sun god Inti.

“Balkanica goes beyond fashion. It is a lifestyle with a history and cultural legacy behind it, which in turn reflects a timeless and elegant spirit. Balkanica always tells stories or invites you to be a part of one,” concludes Jelicic.
