Peter Copping Appointed Artistic Director of Lanvin, to Lead Innovation in Men’s and Women’s Fashion from September 2024

Lanvin, France’s oldest haute couture house, is delighted to announce the appointment of Peter Copping as its new Artistic Director. Founded in 1889 by Jeanne Lanvin, the prestigious maison will see Copping take the helm of both women’s and men’s creative direction starting in September 2024.

Peter Copping, a British designer with an illustrious career, brings extensive experience to Lanvin. A graduate of Central Saint Martins and the Royal College of Art in London, Copping began his career at Sonia Rykiel. He spent over a decade at Louis Vuitton under Marc Jacobs’ leadership and later served as Creative Director at Nina Ricci in Paris and Oscar de la Renta in New York, where he was personally chosen by de la Renta as his successor. Most recently, Copping was at Balenciaga, where he revitalized the haute couture collection and led special projects.

Copping’s arrival at Lanvin marks a milestone in the maison’s revitalization. His vision and technical precision, combined with the dedication of the global teams, promise to explore new frontiers in fashion, delivering both beauty and results. Copping expressed his honor at the opportunity to write the next chapter for this iconic house.
