Pharrell Williams finds inspiration in water and marine deities for his new Tiffany Titan jewelry collection.

When Pharrell Williams was growing up in Virginia Beach, his grandmother would take him to the Neptune Festival, a parade in the Seven Cities region. This annual celebration honored a local Good Samaritan by crowning them King Neptune, similar to being named the community MVP.

From his home in Tokyo, Williams explains that the theme of water has played a significant role in his life. “I grew up in a neighborhood called Atlantis—the city in the sea,” Williams says. “I loved a cartoon called Jabberjaw, about a big shark that played in a band called The Neptunes. I was obsessed with the beach, showers, sinks, and running water. When I heard the sound of water, music would come to me.” Later, he would name his original music group, along with Chad Hugo, The Neptunes.

Now, marine deities once again inspire Williams, who, besides producing hits for Travis Scott, Rosalía, and Kendrick Lamar, is the creative director of Louis Vuitton Men’s. His latest venture is a jewelry collection for Tiffany & Co., first unveiled in 2022. Called Tiffany Titan, the collection includes 16 pieces: necklaces, bracelets, rings, and earrings in 18-karat gold, black titanium, and diamonds, all with small spikes evoking Poseidon’s trident.

Williams highlights the poetic connection between Titan, the planetary body, and titanium, the metal. Excited about black titanium, five pieces in the collection feature this hue, accented with yellow gold and diamonds. Williams hopes to inspire people with objects that explore the meaning of the word “black” in various contexts. Throughout his career, from the days of The Neptunes, jewelry has always been important to Williams, and his collaboration with Tiffany is a natural progression.
