Director, producer and screenwriter Quentin Tarantino confirms future retirement with‘The Movie Critic‘ as final project.
Acclaimed director and producer Quentin Tarantino has officially revealed that he is about to throw in the towel on his career. After three illustrious decades of making movies, the film directing star has declared that he is “ready to call it quits.” Tarantino is world-renowned for classic hits such as ‘ Pulp Fiction ‘, ‘ Reservoir Dogs ‘ y ‘ Kill Bill ‘.
His decision to step away from the industry was never something the director was ashamed to talk about. In 2009, Tarantino admitted that he planned to retire at the age of 60. He seems to be sticking to his plans, as he said earlier this year, “he will start writing novels and film literature, things like that.”
“I want to do a second volume of Cinema Speculation covering the 1970s but with other films. And then I’ll make the jump to the 80s.”
Quentin Tarantino, Film Director
Over the years, the director continually dropped the possibility of his retirement. In March, he announced that ‘ The Movie Critic ‘ will be his tenth and final film. Tarantinó confirmed that the late film critic Pauline Kael, who inspired Cinema Speculation (2022), also influenced this latest project. “Yes, it’s part of the landscape. The story takes place in a world where Pauline Kael exists and is alluded to, but the film is not about her,” he replies.
