CHANEL presents its Spring-Summer 2024 eyewear collection, merging vintage nostalgia with modernity, offering iconic elegance and audacity.

The luxury house of CHANEL unveiled its Spring-Summer 2024 eyewear collection, exploring the nostalgia of the 1970s and 1980s while pushing the boundaries of modern fashion aesthetics. The collection blends classic aviator-style frames with mask styles and introduces precious details that revisit the house’s iconic codes, offering a refreshing reinterpretation of vintage glamour through the prism of contemporary design.

Captured by fashion photographer Karim Sadli, the campaign features a diverse cast of models including Liu Wen, Loli Bahia, América González, and Alaato Jazyper, each bringing a unique essence to the collection, embodying the elegance and audacity for which CHANEL is known.

Gabrielle Chanel’s innovative use of two-tone designs has historically been a distinctive element of her charm and continues to influence the brand’s creative direction. The 2024 sunglasses collection showcases this through four distinct pairs of glasses: a large square, a high butterfly, a revised cat-eye version, and a sophisticated shield. Each pair combines classic or pop color combinations that are both soft and contrasting, illuminating the designs with a vibrant interplay of shades. True to Mademoiselle Chanel’s famous adage, “the interior must be as beautiful as the exterior,” these sunglasses feature black frames adorned with a secondary color that also appears on the back, seamlessly complementing the iconic double-C logo on their wide temples.

The construction of these pieces is as innovative as their design. The lightweight frames are crafted from nylon fiber and equipped with mineral lenses that offer better visual acuity than traditional lenses, ensuring both comfort and clarity. The two-tone theme extends beyond simple color contrasts; it includes a pair of sunglasses and another frame specifically designed to filter blue light, where the fronts contrast with brightly colored temples enhanced with a lacquered double-C in inverted shades.

Color continues to play a fundamental role throughout the collection. For example, oval-shaped sunglasses combine burgundy with raspberry, while the light blue version combines black with pink. A butterfly frame with CHANEL letters on the temples blends acetate with metal, adding a subtle yet striking touch. The collection also includes photochromic lenses that dynamically respond to changes in light, shifting from pink to mauve-gray or from champagne to dark brown when exposed to UV light and quickly reverting when shaded.

Completing the lineup is an elegantly designed aviator frame adorned with 72 hand-placed cubic zirconia diamonds spelling out CHANEL along the temples. This piece showcases true expertise in jewelry-making, with each diamond meticulously placed to echo Gabrielle Chanel’s spirit of mixing precious stones with costume jewelry.
