Robert Pattinson could join the epic Dune: Messiah, where he is rumoured to play the potential villain in the highly anticipated sequel.

The Dune universe continues to expand, and now Robert Pattinson is being considered as a possible addition for the third instalment, directed by Denis Villeneuve, which is set to release in 2027.

According to Variety, the Canadian filmmaker is reportedly considering the 38-year-old British actor for a role yet to be revealed, as he finalises the script for Dune: Messiah. Although there are no official negotiations or formal offers at the moment, some rumours suggest that Pattinson could play Scytale, the enigmatic antagonist of the story.

Legendary Pictures has not made any comments on the matter, keeping the casting details under wraps.

Filming is expected to begin this summer. Timothée Chalamet and Zendaya will return as the lead characters in the saga, along with Florence Pugh, Anya Taylor-Joy, and Jason Momoa, who has confirmed his return as Duncan Idaho.

Pattinson, meanwhile, is currently shooting The Odyssey under the direction of Christopher Nolan, a project that also features Zendaya in the cast. The two recently shared the screen in The Drama, directed by Kristoffer Borgli.

The anticipation continues to build for this highly awaited sequel. Dune: Messiah is scheduled for release in cinemas in 2027.
