Sam Asghari responds to Britney Spears after she calls him “a distraction” in her life

Sam Asghari has responded to Britney Spears’ recent Instagram remarks, defending the authenticity of their marriage and wishing her well.

The 43-year-old pop star surprised her followers with a reflection on Instagram, where she claimed that her marriage to Sam Asghari “almost felt like a fake distraction” during the period when she was away from her two children.

In response, Asghari issued a statement to People, defending the reality of their relationship: “Our marriage was very real to me. It may have been short, but we were together for seven years. I was in love with her, I’ll always have love for her and I wish her the best always.”

The couple first met in 2016, when Asghari appeared in the music video for Slumber Party. In 2022, they made their relationship official with a highly publicised wedding, though their marriage lasted just over a year before they ultimately split.
