Scarlett Johansson, Adam Driver and Miles Teller star in ‘Paper Tiger’, an intense crime drama set to arrive in US cinemas in November.
Scarlett Johansson and Adam Driver are sharing the screen once again following Marriage Story, although this time their reunion takes place in a completely different world. The two actors are part of the cast of Paper Tiger, the new crime thriller written and directed by James Gray, whose full trailer has just been unveiled.
The film also stars Miles Teller and transports audiences to New York in 1986, a setting where family relationships, crime and personal loyalties become dangerously intertwined.
Teller plays Irwin, an engineer and family man who appears to lead a conventional life until his brother Gary, played by Adam Driver, returns with a proposition capable of changing everything. Gary, a former police officer, draws him into a scheme involving Russian criminals that initially appears to offer an attractive financial opportunity.
However, the deal quickly takes a far more dangerous turn. Irwin discovers that his decisions threaten not only his own safety, but also his marriage, his children and his relationship with his brother. What begins as a seemingly advantageous arrangement gradually develops into a spiral of pressure, fear and increasingly fragile family ties.
One of the major attractions of Paper Tiger is the on-screen reunion between Johansson and Driver. The two actors previously starred together in 2019’s Marriage Story, in which they played a married couple navigating a difficult divorce. Their performances and on-screen dynamic became some of the film’s most acclaimed elements.
James Gray’s new project has already begun its international festival journey after premiering at the Cannes Film Festival. Its next major stop will be the New York Film Festival, where it is set to open the event on 25 September.
Paper Tiger will be released in selected US cinemas on 13 November, before expanding nationwide on 20 November.
