Selena Gomez and David Henrie return in ‘Wizards: Beyond Waverly Place’, feeling at home and bringing magical surprises.

It’s been over 12 years since Wizards of Waverly Place ended in 2012 after four seasons, but reuniting for the spinoff, Wizards: Beyond Waverly Place, felt like no time had passed for stars Selena Gomez and David Henrie.

“I felt at home again,” Gomez commented on Thursday during the premiere of the fourth season of Only Murders in the Building in Hollywood. “I’m so happy to be able to bring back this childhood gift that was given to me for new generations of little ones.”

Gomez never imagined reprising her role as Alex Russo, but now she hopes the spinoff will have multiple seasons. “We don’t know yet, but if people like it, we’ll see,” she said.

David Henrie, who reprises his role as Justin, revealed: “Selena and I spent years talking about where the characters would be. At one point, we thought, ‘I think we have a show. I think we should talk to Disney about this.'”

Henrie, who is using his original wand in the spinoff, added, “It wasn’t said, but when we heard ‘Action,’ it was like not a day had passed in 12 years.”

Wizards: Beyond Waverly Place follows an adult Justin balancing his mortal life while mentoring a young witch, all while protecting the future of the Magical World.
